Composition

Kokum is packed with many essential vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin C and minerals such as calcium, iron, manganese, potassium, and zinc. It also contains a good amount of folic acid, ascorbic acid, acetic acid, hydroxy citric acid, and fibre.

Its triglyceride composition is uniform and consists of up to 80% of stearic-oleic-stearic (SOS) triglycerides. Because its slip melting point is close to human body temperature (37°C), it tends to melt on skin contact.

Origins

Kokum butter originates from the seeds of the Garcinia indica tree, also known as the kokum tree, which is native to the Western Ghats of India.Specifically, it's cultivated in the tropical regions of India, particularly in states like Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala
